Strawberries are not berries

Strawberry is not botanically a berry or a fruit.

The so called fruit is covered with so called seeds. The “seeds” are called achene which, by definition, is a small dry fruit.

So if the seeds are the real fruits of the strawberry, then what is that reddish flesh we are eating?

To make things simpler, it is actually just the receptacle that holds or bears the actual fruit of the strawberry.

Extra: Strawberry belongs to the family rosaceae along with rose. Ooops.. strange term. Let’s just say, strawberry and rose are “relatives.”

So which one is a strawberry flower?
